چکیده

Skin intrinsic fluorescence is associated with hemoglobin A 1c and hemoglobin glycation index but not mean blood glucose in children with type 1 diabetes. In the print version of the article listed above, on page 1817, the sentence " For the second k x /k m set (set c), k x and k m were 0.5 and 0, respectively, which is useful for populations with a wide range of skin melanin (17) (further technical detail in Supplementary Appendix) " should read as follows: " For the second k x /k m set (set c), k x and k m were 0.5 and 0.5, respectively, which is useful for populations with a wide range of skin melanin (17) (further technical detail in Supplementary Data). " The online version reflects these changes.

Skin Intrinsic Fluorescence Is Associated With Hemoglobin A1c and Hemoglobin Glycation Index but Not Mean Blood Glucose in Children With Type 1 Diabetes

OBJECTIVE To evaluate the relationship between skin advanced glycation end products (sAGEs) with mean blood glucose (MBG), hemoglobin A(1c) (HbA(1c)), and MBG-independent, between-patient differences in HbA(1c) among children with type 1 diabetes. RESEARCH DESIGN AND METHODS Children aged 5 to 20 years with type 1 diabetes of at least 1 year duration participated. At a clinic visit, sAGE was ...

Racial Disparity in A1C Independent of Mean Blood Glucose in Children With Type 1 Diabetes

OBJECTIVE Mean blood glucose (MBG) and MBG-independent factors both influence A1C levels. Race was related to A1C independent of MBG in adults. The goal of this study was to determine if racial disparity exists in A1C independent of MBG in children with diabetes. RESEARCH DESIGN AND METHODS Participants included 276 children with type 1 diabetes. A1C and MBG were obtained from multiple clinic...

Labile A1C Is Inversely Correlated With the Hemoglobin Glycation Index in Children With Type 1 Diabetes

OBJECTIVE We hypothesized that labile A1C (LA1C) is directly correlated with stable A1C (SA1C) and between-patient differences in SA1C, which are independent of mean blood glucose (MBG). RESEARCH DESIGN AND METHODS We measured SA1C, LA1C, MBG, and a single clinic capillary glucose (CCG) from 152 pediatric patients with type 1 diabetes. Patients were grouped as high, moderate, or low glycators...

Diagnostic Value of Fructosamine and Glycosylated Hemoglobin in Estimating Blood Glucose Level in Diabetic Patients with Thalassemia Major

Abstract Background and Objective: Diabetes mellitus is one of complications that thalassemia major patients face with. Hence, blood glucose monitoring is of vital importance to these patients. Because of high level of fetal hemoglobin in these patients, the measurement of hemoglobin A1c is not reliable and should be displaced by fructosamine test. Material and Methods: The current descr...

The Effects of 6 Isocaloric Meals Pattern on Blood Lipid Profile, Glucose, Hemoglobin A1c, Insulin and Malondialdehyde in Type 2 Diabetic Patients: A Randomized Clinical Trial

Background: The present clinical trial study aims at investigating the effect of daily energy intake in 6 isocaloric meals in comparison with the current meal pattern (3 meals and 2 small snacks per day) on type 2 diabetes risk markers in diabetes during 3-month period. Methods: Eighty four type 2 diabetes patients were randomly divided into 6 isocaloric meal diet or a balanced diet (3 meals an...
